However, we are big fans of quantifiable, trackable results here at Tummo. That’s why we use an INbody body fat measuring scale and take initial and monthly measurements and before/progress pics to track client progress.  Once a month you will be given a color printout of these measurements so you can put some exact numbers on your progress. It feels good to see constant improvement in the form of lower body fat and improved fat to muscle ratios.

There are several contraindications related to EMS training. The most common are:

  • Epilepsy
  • Active electrical implants (pacemaker, insulin pump, cardiac defibrillator)
  • Seizures
  • Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Febrile diseases
  • Kidney and liver disease
  • Severe heart disease
  • Active blood clots
  • Active Tumors
  • Infected or wounded areas of the skin (new tattoos)
  • Severe neurological disorders

You will most likely still be able to participate in Tummo EMS workouts. In general, metal implants do not interfere with EMS workouts as long as electrodes are not placed directly on top of them. Let our trainers know during your initial consultation and we’ll take care of you.

EMS training is relatively new to the United States. It just received FDA approval for fitness in 2019, and this is the main reason there are not more EMS studios here at the moment. EMS training started in Europe, where it is huge, and is currently gaining momentum around the world. Right now there are over 3,000 EMS studios worldwide, in more than 60 countries. EMS has been changing lives throughout the world for the past ten years, and is finally available in the United States. EMS training is becoming more well known in the states as celebrities and elite athletes are starting to use it, some of the bigger names include Usain Bolt, Mike Tyson, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

The same concerns that arise with adolescents regarding traditional strength training remain present in EMS training. Mainly, that starting before they finish puberty could potentially stunt their growth. Anyone under the age of 18 will need their parents signature to participate in Tummo EMS workouts. We would recommend they use only the endurance mode on the machine (not the strength training mode) and combine it with one-on-one strength training sessions with our certified trainers using more conventional training methods.

No Problem! In fact this is the goal of the majority of our clients. Our experienced certified trainers will custom design your workouts for your specific goals. There are different techniques and frequencies to use on the machine for bulking, and others for slimming/toning. You will not look like a body builder if you don’t want to. EMS studies in females have shown there was no increases in size despite significant increases in strength, consequently fears about “huge mountains of muscle” are unfounded (apparently hormone related)

You are always able to book an additional session, however our monthly plans are designed to be the most economical option for you, so upgrading you plan might be a better option.

No, it’s actually much safer than traditional forms of strength training. The most common negative side effect is muscle cramps due to not being adequately hydrated prior to the training session. This can easily be avoided by drinking water before, during, and after your session.

A comfortable pair of footwear and a small towel for sweat. You will be issued a brand new pair of specially designed long undergarments required to be used with our machines. You need to drink an extra 500ml (half liter) of water before, during, and after training.
