Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know Tummo is working?2021-09-17T17:17:53+00:00

Sore muscles and results you can see in the mirror come almost immediately with Tummo EMS training. Clients “know” it’s working right away. However, we are big fans of quantifiable, trackable results here at Tummo. That’s why we use an INbody body fat measuring scale and take initial and monthly measurements and before/progress pics to track client progress.  Once a month you will be given a color printout of these measurements so you can put some exact numbers on your progress. It feels good to see constant improvement in the form of lower body fat and improved fat to muscle ratios.

My son is on the high school wrestling team and wants to increase strength and endurance, would Tummo be right for him?2021-09-04T02:28:39+00:00

The same concerns that arise with adolescents regarding traditional strength training remain present in EMS training. Mainly, that starting before they finish puberty could potentially stunt their growth. Anyone under the age of 18 will need their parents signature to participate in Tummo EMS workouts. We would recommend they use only the endurance mode on the machine (not the strength training mode) and combine it with one-on-one strength training sessions with our certified trainers using more conventional training methods.

I want to look fit but I don’t want huge bulky muscles…2021-09-04T02:28:50+00:00

No Problem! In fact this is the goal of the majority of our clients. Our experienced certified trainers will custom design your workouts for your specific goals. There are different techniques and frequencies to use on the machine for bulking, and others for slimming/toning. You will not look like a body builder if you don’t want to. EMS studies in females have shown there was no increases in size despite significant increases in strength, consequently fears about “huge mountains of muscle” are unfounded (apparently hormone related)

We set aside 60 minutes for your first session, although you’re in and out usually in 45 minutes. Your personal trainer will go over your goals, exercise experience, and any concerns you have. You will be provided a new pair of specially designed long underwear that are yours to keep. Your trainer will take you initial body measurement as well as your before pictures (for your reference only). Your trainer will make sure you are adequately hydrated, and will help you put on the suit. We will run an “impulse familiarization program” so you can feel what the electric impulses are like, and you and your trainer will determine where the comfortable levels are for you. You will then be guided through your first EMS workout.

How does EMS training increase growth hormone?2021-09-11T03:06:59+00:00

By now, most people of heard of the benefits of Human Growth Hormone. Maybe you’ve even heard it called “the fountain of youth”. It’s important for growth, cell regeneration, and cell reproduction. HGH helps to maintain, build, and repair healthy tissue in the brain and other organs. This hormone can help to speed up healing after an injury and repair muscle tissue after exercise. It helps to build muscle mass, boost metabolism, and burn fat. As we age, our natural growth hormone levels decline. The lower your levels of growth hormone, the more rapidly you age. There are several things you can do to increase your natural HGH levels. Eat well, sleep well, and exercise well. And when it comes to exercise, specific types increase your HGH levels more than others. High intensity exercise produces more growth hormone release than lower intensity exercise. In studies involving EMS, it’s been shown that EMS based workouts release more growth hormone than compared to voluntary (traditional) exercise.

But one of the most interesting aspects of Tummo EMS workouts is the ability to provide resistance to the specific muscles of your sport. Take the guess work out of strength training. You’re now able to practice your Tennis, Baseball, Golf swing etc. with resistance on the exact group of muscles being used for that movement. Building strength and muscle memory at the same time has never been more efficient.

This all depends. With Tummo alone we guarantee you will burn fat and build muscle, transforming the way you look. Your body fat will drop significantly with Tummo. Weight, however, is not the best measurement for body transformation. Most people know that muscle weighs more than fat, so as your body gains muscle and loses fat, you may not see much of a difference in pounds, in fact, depending on diet, some people may even gain weight. That’s why we use a a state of the art medical grade body composition scale to track the true metrics of your body transformation. However if weight loss is your goal, we’ve got you covered! Combining EMS training with Tummo’s customized nutrition plans is the way to go, because “you can’t out-train a bad diet”.

Is it like a wearable “ab sculptor”?2021-09-11T03:07:38+00:00

When a lot of people hear about EMS training for the first time they think of these popular wearable devices. There are several major differences between these and Tummo whole body EMS training. Wearables are passive devices, that only offer localized stimulation to a specific area. They are generally set to one frequency, and don’t require any effort from the user. Little results can be expected from these devices. Simply put, a wearable cannot deliver a workout.

Is it a TENS unit?2021-09-11T03:07:42+00:00

No, although our machines have the TENS frequency, our trainers only use this “Relax” mode at the end of the workout for a 5 minute “cool down”. This frequency does not contract your muscles, and feels like a gentle massage.
